Villa in Bali

Major Structural Repairs

A brand new villa worth over a million dollars was built without foundations or sufficient reinforcing steel in the floor slabs. Wilson and Associates designed and supervised repair work involving investigation of the ground's load bearing capacity, the installation of foundation piers and strengthening beams for the floor slab. This major work was highly successful.

 

Quantity Surveying and Inspection

An expensive luxury villa in Canggu was 60% completed when the builder walked off the job. An independant assessment of the value of work completed was required to resolve the conflict between the builder and the client. Wilson and Associates provided a detailed assessment of the Bill of Quantities which was used to resolve the situation. The availablity of a detailed and objective report provided the means for the client to win a court battle with the building contractor.

Underpinning of Subsided Foundations

A two storey private house built on filled land at Taman Mumbul had subsided at a front corner resulting in the house splitting in half right through the centre. The floor of the open plan downstairs room had a crack across the centre while through the roof was a gap 6 cms wide.

The front corner of the house was underpinned, the floor removed and relaid with reinforced beams and the roof was stitched together and the cracks covered. After several years and some major earthquakes no further cracks have appeared in the house.

Assessing and Rectifying Earthquake Damage

After recent earthquake a number of buildings suffered damage and it was necessary to inspect them to make sure they were safe and to organise appropriate repairs.

Power Management Planning and Renewable Energy

Wilson and Associates have developed a power management plan for the Green School providing consulting services for the reduction of power use throughout the school and the installation of a solar voltaic power generation system.

Water Contamination and Purification

A large Villa complex has had their water supply contaminated from local septic tanks. A series of initiatives have been designed and implemented to address the initial problem and move to a more effective long term solution.

Excess Water Use

A large commercial complex found they were use very large quantities of water every day resulting in very large electricity bills to power 3 large water pumps. Investigations were carried out to determine where the water was going and to take corrective action. Water and electricity use has been reduced by as much as 90%.

For people who are coming to the end of their maintenance period we can make sure everything is up to scratch before you finally sign off with the builder or developer. Our maintenance inspections not only cover superficial issues such as wall finishing or sticking windows and doors, our structural surveys carried out by fully qualified engineers will identify the more important issues such as adequacy of foundations and structural integrity of the building.

Electrical Audits

With an unreliable electricity supply in most parts of Indonesia combined with restrictions on how much power people have access to many people are having problems with their electrical power. The problem is excerbated by poor electrical installations, phase inbalance in 3 phase supplies and the common incidence of neighbours "borrowing" power.

Electrical audits can resolve many electrical problems and reduce power bills by optimising circuits, identifying and removing power losses and finding faults.

Water Testing

Water quality is a major issue in Bali and contaminated water can cause illness even death. Contamination may be from minerals in the ground, from a nearby septic tank or perhaps industrial waste.

A laboratory test can check the purity of your water and provide the information needed to plan appropriate measures to improve the quality of the supply.
